When Video is Better Than a Still Photograph

I still see the world though my camera mainly as still photos but I’m now trying to notice when a scene really benefits from motion and sound. The two examples below are an obvious time when video showed the scene more as I experienced it.

Waterfall still

I came across these falls behind a hotel without expecting them. My first reaction was to the sound of the water as it fell to the river below. As usual I started taking still photos when I realized that this scene is made for video.

Remember keep your video clips short, don’t move the camera too much and pan with the action and press that video button!—Mark Toal
