My Favorite Things to Photograph

Today’s Post by Joe Farace

“Silver white winters that melt into springs, These are a few of my favorite things…”—lyrics to My Favorite Things

Whenever I get a new camera or lens I like to test it by photographing a favorite location. You can read about why and how I do that here on our sister blog “Saving the World, One Pixel at a Time.”

Regular readers of this and my other blog know that one of my favorite subjects to photograph is the gazebo in O’Brien Park in Parker, Colorado. This images was made during a recent snow and shot using an Olympus OM-D EM-10 that was a gift from my wife, Mary. (I know I have the greatest wife of all time.) Lens used was the inexpensive but eminently useful Olympus 17mm f/2.8 and the exposure was 1/640 sec at f/9 and ISO 200. Image was shot in camera using the (in camera capture) 16:9 image ratio and was converted to monochrome with Silver Efex Pro and then a little softness was added from the Glamour Glow filter that’s part of Color Efex Pro.
