It’s the Ultimate Car Museum

I recently visited the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles. The Petersen re-opened in 2015 after a major renovation. I knew from the moment that I walked in that this was going to be an amazing experience. The huge black Rolls Royce with its round doors that greets you is breathtaking in its size and art deco design. I’ve never been to a car museum where I saw so many cars that I ne

ver knew existed. The emphasis here is on over the top design, not just on showing you restored cars.

The art deco influence is everywhere. I didn’t think that I would ever leave the room that only contains silver cars called “Precious Metal.” Combined with the white walls and cement floors it felt like I was in a black and white world.

The Bruce Meyer Family Gallery is a rotating second-floor exhibit space that launches with “Precious Metal” – a look at the most significant cars ever to wear silver paint. Many of the ten automobiles on display in have not been readily viewable by the public outside of the occasional Concours.

At the Petersen you start on the top, 3rd floor and work your way down. This is the first museum that I can remember where I headed right back to the top to see it all again. As you can see in the photos there are no ropes or railings to get in the way of your photos.

The Petersen Museum is nothing short of amazing.
