Opryland

Peak Design strap Imaging USA is the National Convention of PPA, the Professional Photographers of America. This year it was held at the amazing Gaylord Opryland Hotel in Nashville. Opryland is a huge 2000 room hotel enclosed in a glass dome with waterfalls, and an indoor boat ride.

There wasn’t any new cameras on display at the show but I did find a couple of things that I want to buy for my mirrorless cameras. As soon as I saw the interchangeable strap system made by Peak Designs I had to buy it. It’s basically a small “Anchor Lock” quick connection that stays on your camera and allows you to easily change between a wrist and neck strap or from one camera to another. I’m a big fan of wrist straps for my small cameras.

The other thing I use a lot for video is a monopod with three small folding feet and a video head. I currently use the Benro but the new Sirui P-224S Monopod (similar to one that Joe has been using ) is going to replace it. It comes in steel or carbon fiber and has a great rotating column feature for video panning. Another feature I like is that the removable feet that can be used as a tripod or to hold a light.
