I’ve been waiting for a good RAW file conversion software to come along for the Panasonic Lumix GH4 camera. Normally I use Adobe Lightroom for all my editing and RAW conversion but DxO Optics Pro 9 beat them to the punch this time. In case you missed it, I wrote about using Optics Pro 9 to process RAW files with the GX7 a while ago. DxO Optics Pro 9 also now works with Lightroom 5 making it a lot easier to incorporate into your current workflow.
In my first tests with the GH4 in Lightroom I found I could shoot as high as ISO 5000 and still get acceptable results with JPEG files. As you can see in these photos, results are good even up to ISO 25,600 in DxO Optics Pro 9 using RAW files. Now I still wouldn’t shoot at that high an ISO unless I didn’t have a choice but I’m pretty comfortable at ISO’s up to 10,000 with the GH4 and processing the RAW files in Optics Pro 9.—Mark Toal
