Today’s Post by Jamie Zartman
Mid-January can be a dicey time to be in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. Recently, I was outside Boulder, Colorado, looking for Eldorado Canyon State Park. The weather was great and I was looking for a place to try out the versatility of the tiny, Olympus 9-18mm lens with my Olympus EM-5 II camera. (All photos handheld thanks to the excellent five-axis stabilization in the camera.)
Eldorado Canyon provided some interesting and colorful landscape opportunities. All of the photos were shot at ISO 200, between f/5.6 and f/6.3, and from 10.9mm in the first photo to 13mm in the second one and full zoom to 18mm in the third photo. As I was exited, I looked back as you should and grabbed the quick shot of an always reliable Toyota Tacoma driving back through a cut in the canyon wall. The quaint artist colony of Eldorado Springs provides some interesting photographic opportunities as well, and the famous Eldorado Springs artesian water is excellent. If you are ever in the Boulder area, it is a great place to visit.
