One photo out of focus is a mistake, ten photos out of focus are an experiment, one hundred photos out of focus are a style. — Anonymous
Whenever I do a Panasonic event at Samy’s Camera store in Los Angeles I’m amazed by the high quality of still and video work that the customers there show me. There are really good photographers in every city that I visit but not as many per capita as in LA.
I commented to one customer that he must be busy with the quality of work that he was showing me. He shrugged his shoulders and said he’s doing well, but it’s hard when you’re competing against so many good photographers. He told me his key to getting jobs is to never show a weak image now matter how much he likes it. In his words “clients look at so many good photos that they look for images they don’t like to immediately disqualify you”
I think this is good advice to remember whenever you show your images. No matter if it’s Facebook, Flickr or a client that you want to hire you—only show your best images.
