It’s not just a 60-inch print but it’s taken from a frame of 4K video shot using the new Panasonic Lumix GH4 camera.
As part of my job at Panasonic I visit camera stores in the Pacific Northwest. When I walked into Pro Photo Supply in Portland last week they were in the process of printing a 60-inch long Epson inkjet print from a frame grabbed from a 4K video that store employee Matt Walsh shot with his own GH4 and the Panasonic/Leica 42.5mm lens. We all stood there as the print slowly came out of the printer. To say we were amazed is an understatement.
This photo is Matt holding the print. Forgive the quality; it was taken with my iPhone. You can see and download the original size file and see other video images on Flickr.—Mark Toal
EVENT: If you are in Portland later this week we will be showing the prints and I will be demonstrating the Panasonic GH4 on Friday, May 16 from 10am-5pm at Pro Photo Supply.
