It’s My Year for Video, Again

Today’s Post by Mark Toal

I’m not big on New Year’s resolutions since I rarely remember them a week after New Year’s day. But this time of year does make me think about what I want to learn next to further my photography knowledge. For a few years I’ve wanted to learn more about how to shoot and edit video. I’m not the only one resistant to video; I hear it all the time when I’m working at events for Panasonic.

Video has always been difficult to shoot and edit. It’s actually much easier than when digital first started and cameras used digital tape. The software has become fairly easy to use. Even inexpensive programs like Adobe Premier Elements are easy to use and do a great job. Your camera and even phone will shot great video, so why not learn to use it?

Websites such as YouTube and Vimeo make it easy to upload your videos and share them with the world. I have a Vimeo.com account where all my videos are easy to find.

I love the idea that a video tells a story. This year I’m going to share my hits and misses with you as I make another attempt at learning video. Here is my latest video of the building of a Rat Rod car last summer. I’m not completely happy with the way this came out so I’m going to attempt to re-edit it and share what I learn.
